DC Fan and Its Working Principle

Hits:124 Pub Time:2023-07-13

DC fan, as the name suggests, is a cooling fan that converts electrical energy into electromagnetic energy through DC voltage and electromagnetic induction. Electromagnetic energy is then converted into mechanical energy, and finally into kinetic energy, thereby causing the fan blades to rotate.

The conventional DC fan is mainly composed of four parts: rotor, stator, motor, and outer frame. DC motor composition: composed of permanent magnet rotor, multi-stage winding stator, position sensor, and electronic commutation drive control circuit. Rotor composition: composed of motor shell, permanent magnetic strip, shaft core, and fan blades. Stator part: enameled wire+plastic coated silicon steel sheet+bearing+Hall induction detection+drive circuit board+shaft. As shown in the figure:

The core components of a DC fan are the stator and rotor. Through the Ampere's right-hand rule, we know that a conductor passing through an electric current will generate a magnetic field around it. If this conductor is placed in another fixed magnetic field, it will generate suction or repulsion, causing the object to move. Inside the blades of the DC fan, a rubber magnet pre filled with magnetism is attached. Surrounding the silicon steel sheet, two sets of coils are wound around the axis, and a Hall sensing component is used as a synchronous detection device to control a set of circuits. This circuit rotates the two sets of coils wound around the axis, causing the silicon steel sheet to generate different magnetic poles, which generate attraction and repulsion force with the rubber magnet. When the suction and repulsion force is greater than the static friction force of the lice fan, the fan blades naturally rotate. Due to the Hall sensing component providing a synchronous signal, the fan blades can continue to operate, and the direction of their operation can be determined according to Fleming's right-hand rule. This is the working principle of a DC fan.
